Scott Rocklage, 5AM Ventures’ managing partner, joined the company as a venture partner in 2003 and became the managing partner in 2004. Scott has a wealth of experience of close to 30 years in healthcare management. His vast scientific expertise further strengthens his background. These two assets have established him as a capable and strategic leader in venture capital, pharmaceuticals, and the healthcare domain.



5AM Ventures is a capital venture firm interested in life sciences. It collaborates with upcoming entities to solve healthcare problems and meet emerging needs using advancements in medicine and science.



They support companies that embrace modern techniques in preventing, diagnosing, and treating medical conditions. They also provide management and operational support to the businesses by serving as strategists, operations managers, and board members.



At the company, Dr. Scott wears many hats. He is engaged in studying life science, liaising with the management team, and preparing board meetings among others. The 61-year-old is also the chairperson of the Boards of Relypsa and Achaogen.



He also sits on several boards. He once worked at Cubist Pharmaceuticals as CEO. Previously, he chaired the committee of Novira and as the executive chair of Miikana.



His boasts a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree from the University of California and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the MIT. While at MIT, he worked with Richard R. Schrock, a distinguished academician and inventor. It was in his laboratory that Dr. Scott conducted his research.



Scott’s leadership and experience in healthcare played a significant role in the approval of three new drug applications by the Federal Drug Administration in the United States. He is credited with the use of several FDA-approved drugs. He also entered six medications as candidates for clinical testing.



In addition to all these, Dr. Rocklage has over a hundred published research and peer-reviewed journal publications. He also invented or co-invented over 30 patents in the United States. Dr. Scott Rocklage has even managed to give back to the society in a variety of ways.
